American Independence Parade in Waukegan to Feature Senator Adriane Johnson as Grand Marshal

The Waukegan Park District is currently accepting applications for the 2024 American Independence Parade, scheduled to take place on Sunday, June 30, 2024. The parade, with the theme of "Star Spangled Celebration," will commence at 1 pm and proceed north on Sheridan Road from Franklin Street to Jack Benny Drive.

Leading the parade as the Grand Marshal will be Senator Adriane Johnson, who represents the 30th District in the Illinois State Senate, including Waukegan. Senator Johnson, known for her advocacy for parks and recreation, has a notable background having served as the former President of the Buffalo Grove Park District Board of Commissioners and Chair of the Illinois Association of Park Districts Board of Trustees.

Businesses and organizations are encouraged to partake in this community event by submitting a completed application online before Monday, June 2, 2024. While businesses and non-political organizations can participate at no cost, political organizations are required to pay a $100 fee to join the parade.
