State Representative Travis Weaver (R-Edwards) expressed his satisfaction as three Senate Bills he sponsored advanced out of House committees with unanimous support. Weaver stated, “I look forward to fully passing these important pieces of legislation through the House and formal adoption from the Governor.”

One of the bills, Senate Bill 2597, aims to protect veterans who reside in tiny homes or are homeless by exempting them from new electric vehicle charging requirements. Weaver explained that the exemption is applicable if the tiny home is built by a non-profit organization for veterans in need of secure, long-term affordable housing.

Another bill, Senate Bill 2862, requires the annual publication of a list of the most in-demand education jobs on the Board of Higher Education’s website. This list will include information on starting salaries, median salaries, and typical education levels for each job, compiled through collaboration between the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity and the Department of Employment Security.

The third bill, Senate Bill 2907, focuses on state-funded job training transparency. This legislation mandates the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity to work with relevant state agencies to compile reports on all state-funded job training and workforce development programs. These reports will be shared with the General Assembly and the public to track program efficiency and effectiveness.

Representing Illinois House District 93, Rep. Travis Weaver encourages individuals seeking further information to reach out to his District Office at (309) 204-6514 or visit his website at repweaver.com.
